Raudisandur

Raudisandur was a pretty cool place. We didn't linger here too long, but the atmospherics were great.

kaldbaksvatn

I have been busier than the proverbial one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest lately, and have not had a chance to revisit a lot of my photos. I was intending to do a lot of these digital pictures as large platinums, but the subtle colors in so many of them have me thinking....

Rio Amazonas of Iceland

Invited by the trolls, I left the car and Roger and Tim behind and followed the trolls on an amazing flight over Iceland. At first, I thought, they want to show me the Rio Amazonas of Iceland.
The trolls however were desperate about that statement.

Don't you see us dancing?
Do you see them?

North shore of Kleifarvatn

Waiting for the Nessie troll at Kleifarvatn on the Reykjanes Peninsula with Tim and Roger.

The lake is known for draining itself from time to time. (see news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2001/10/1001_lostlake.html). And the lake refills itself in mysterious ways.

I thought, to photograph it while it is pouring with rain just fits...

Highway 61 Visited

Self Portrait

Did anyone else do any self portraits? This was in the elevator at the hotel Sandy and I stayed in our last night (sniff).

Dynjandi's Stream

Looking towards the fjord...

Fuji Instax Snaps

Sorry to be late to the blog party. I don't multitask well. Until I can actually get through my negatives, here are some vacation snaps.

Before Dynjandi

Up on the plateau above Dynjandi...

Raudisandur Panorama

I'm starting to stitch together some of the panoramas that I took...
Note who's on the right.

The Other Side of the Mountain

This is what I saw from my vantage point from the mountain top occupied by the radar station...does anyone recall its name?

Dynjandi Waterfall

My take on the Dynjandi waterfall.

East of Sudavik

This was my best shot from the little pond we stopped at between Isafjordur and Bjarnarfjordur.

Drying Fish; Djupavik

Tim commented to me that the wind was blowing the drying fish around too much to get a clear photograph, inspiring me to walk down and shoot with a long enough exposure to make them really blurry.

That Place with the River...

After our crazy ascent into the clouds, that place where the river was emptying into the ocean was a rich stop for me. Unfortunately most of my film from there was destroyed by a light leak in one of my backs.
Oh well... Stories of the ones that got away. It'll definitely be on my place of must return to's.

The Sea - Reykjanes peninsular.

This one was on the Reykjanes peninsular near the hydrothermal power plan 8 mils west of Grindavik.

Tenacity

While we were shooting the abandoned ship Gardar I was drawn to this small patch of grass that had taken hold in a corroded piece of the hull. I wonder if it will survive the Icelandic winter?

Walkin' After Midnight....

The night I whacked my head and after our night in the bar in Isafjordur, I went out walking with Clay on one of his late night walkabouts. We shot all kinds of things, walked the harbor, pet a kitty and had some great conversation. With homage to Clay and his night shooting, I offer up a few snaps of the night.

It's a Horta ...

She is the mother of her race ! I found this smiling Horta on Earth, 66° 10 ' N 23° 20' W on Bolafjall.
As you can see, she wasn't making any hostile move and as a very logical creature, she decided to allow me to take this exclusive portrait.
No better place to be for a silicon-based life form ! No better place to explore for us ...going, where no photographer has gone before...
(well, at least, it was a yellow-dotted road...)
